The long hot summer has taken it’s toll on the playing surface at Sandy Lane. Check our facebook for a some drone footage showing the state of the ground a few weeks ago.
The recent rains have helped a lot as has the aeration of the pitch and the spreading of some fertiliser.
The next challenge is to maximise playing time through a Darwen Autumn and Winter, the long hot summer will soon be forgotten as we worry about drainage, churned up goal mouths and frost. This is where we may need some help.
Our groundsman has recently retired and we are looking for someone with experience to advise us on ground maintenance. If you know anyone who can take a look and spare the odd hour through the season please pass on this message.
